Library Construction Update

As you have probably noticed, the construction of the new library is progressing rapidly! The crew is in the process of pouring the concrete for the 5th and final floor of the new building.

Part of the next step of the project involves the replacement of the Lefavour facade. To prepare for this exterior work, we will be creating a new pedestrian walkway around the Lefavour building and between the Science Center and Lefavour. This is scheduled to occur during the week of 2/28. The image below illustrates how the current walkway gate will be shifted toward the science center to allow the construction to occur and a new temporary enclosed walkway will be constructed.

We want to alert the community that the first phase of the Lefavour facade replacement will be noisy. We must remove the existing limestone facade and windows on the parking lot and Science Center sides of the building. This work will take about 3 weeks, and is scheduled for 3/2-3/22. We will do as much of this as possible during Spring Break to minimize disruption for the community, especially for students studying in the library and classes being taught in the Lefavour building.
