Two significant web services projects are coming soon that will improve internal communication and information retrieval. There will be a relaunched MySimmons Intranet, and a new-and-improved Campus Announcements system. You can get a sneak peek today at http://my2.simmons.edu.

Thanks to input from the Web Services Committee and others throughout the College, MySimmons has undergone a significant “facelift” to make the site more accessible, and easier to use and navigate. The look has been updated to be more appealing and more consistent with Simmons’s overall visual identity, and the homepage provides more useful, timely information and easy access to online services.

In addition to looking different and working better, the most significant change to MySimmons can be found on its homepage: Announcements. “Campus Announcements” has migrated to the MySimmons website, making this information easier to find and print, and — for the first time — archived and searchable.

If you are looking for a particular announcement, you can view listings by date or category, or perform a search. In addition, everyone will receive a daily e-mail digest (well-formatted plain text) with links back to the full posts. If you have an announcement you want to share with the community, you can log on to http://my2.simmons.edu/announce to submit it online.

To help you get started, Web Services has developed a MySimmons Tour available at http://my2.simmons.edu/about/tour.

“I encourage everyone to visit the tour and the MySimmons preview website” said Shaun Gummere, director of web services. “While much work remains to be done, and we have big plans for FY06 (more about this in a future In the Loop!), the new MySimmons and Campus Announcements represent substantial progress. We hope the Simmons community agrees, and will consider bookmarking the site or making it their homepage, so they have ready access to the most important and timely internal communications and information.”

If you have any questions or feedback about these web services, send an e-mail to webmaster@simmons.edu.
