Meeting the Needs of New Americans:
All Girls Welcome
7:30-8:00 a.m. Registration, networking, breakfast
8:00 – 10:00 a.m. Forum open to general audience interested in girls’ issues and/or immigrant issues
10:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Hands-on training, geared to practitioners working directly with girls
We will address such questions as:
- What are the needs of New Americans?
- What are some of the specific issues facing these girls?
- What resources are available in the community?
- What can be done to make programs more inclusive?
The training following the forum will be geared to service providers. It will be focused on how to implement activities that are inclusive of New American girls.
Presenters include:
- Cassandra Clark Masariegos of Sociedad Latina
- Mariama White Hammond of Project Hip Hop
- Lorena Escoto of the Boys and Girls Club of Boston
- Malika Arty of the OSIRIS Group
- A representative of CAPAY (Coalition of Asian Pacific American Youth)
