I am sad to announce that Jenni McKee, the Director of Service Learning for the Scott/Ross Center for Community Service, will be leaving Simmons next month to return to her home city of Philadelphia to join her family’s business. Jenni came to Simmons in 2000 from the Massachusetts Campus Compact where she supervised the AmeriCorps* VISTA volunteers who serve college and university community service centers throughout the state. Her major responsibility in the Center has been to assist faculty in the undergraduate college in designing and implementing service learning courses and, because of her dedicated work, we now offer over thirty such courses, a major accomplishment for a college our size. Indeed, without Jenni, we would not have the outstanding service learning program that we have today. During her years at Simmons Jenni has also taken a lead position in securing several grants for the Center, supervised our AmeriCorps* VISTAS, and designed and administered our alternative Spring Break each year. As many of you know, her dedication and commitment to Simmons and our students extended well beyond her role with the Scott/Ross Center and I have been grateful to have her on the CAS Administrative Council where her energy, optimism, and intelligence were always valued. I know we will miss her but that we wish her well in this new chapter of her life.
