Please find below an update regarding construction logistics for the upcoming School of Management and Quad Project and Phase II of the library renovation project starting next week.

Temporary Driveway for Construction Access

To allow construction vehicles access and to reduce traffic on our existing driveway we plan to install a temporary two-way driveway between the Park Science building and Lefavour Hall for construction vehicles only. Construction vehicles accessing the library renovation will enter and exit our campus through this driveway. Construction vehicles accessing the School of Management and Quad project will enter through our existing driveway and exit through the temporary driveway. Having two driveways should go a long way in preventing traffic delays and reduce the need for idling of trucks on our campus. This driveway will be removed once construction on both projects is complete.

Change in Pedestrian Access from Avenue Louis Pasteur

Pedestrian access to campus from Avenue Louis Pasteur will be through the entrance to the new library building. Pedestrian access to campus from The Fenway and Palace Road will not change. There will no longer be a pedestrian walkway from Avenue Louis Pasteur through to the current parking lot. Pedestrian access will be maintained from Avenue Louis Pasteur to and from the entrance to the Park Science Building, but will not continue beyond that entrance. Construction fencing and signage will be installed to ensure that this access is made clear. We believe that this route provides the safest pedestrian access possible.

On another note, we are currently working with an arborist to determine the best way to protect all trees on campus during all the construction. In particular, we are looking at precautions to protect the Linden trees between Park Science and the library construction area adjacent to the temporary driveway. We anticipate significant pruning of these trees will be necessary and will also determine with the arborist whether relocation of any of these trees would be prudent to ensure their continued longevity.
