Many of you have probably read or heard in the news that Dell has recalled 4.1 million batteries because a few faulty laptop batteries have overheated, and even caught on fire.

Although 3 of the laptop models that Simmons has been purchasing and recommending for personal purchase are potentially affected, the only way to know for sure whether your laptop is at risk is to check label on the battery. The Help Desk will be in touch directly with the 14 faculty and staff using potentially affected laptops. The 3 laptop models affected that Simmons has recommended for purchase are: Latitude D410, D600, and D610.

If you own a Dell laptop that may be affected by this recall, please go to the Dell Battery Return Program web site immediately and follow the instructions for checking your battery.
