Please: Each time you are finished using a classroom podium, please shut down the system using the touch panel.

What we are doing: Technology Media Services

Every hour a projector is on takes an hour away from the bulb and lens life of that projector. When projector screens are left down for days at a time, they get “sticky” and lose their ability to be raised. Bulbs cost over $100. Lenses cost $200-400. Screens cost $3,000-4,000. We can’t put a dollar figure on interruptions to your class due to technology failures!

Please press “exit” or “shut down” on the touch panel in the room when your class is over. Doing so will furl the projection screen and turn off the projector, protecting the equipment for you and your colleagues, saving energy, and keeping the bulbs out of landfills. Please report any problems you experience with classroom technology by calling 617-521-2765, or sending email to helpdesk@simmons.edu.

And remember! Don’t confuse the “Pic On/Off” button with the “exit” or “shut down” button. The “Pic On/Off” does not turn the system off: it only temporarily covers up the picture on the screen, while the projector bulb keeps right on aging.
