Greetings from Technology.
As the crunch to complete final papers and exams is upon us, Technology has some tips that will make this hectic time run more smoothly.
Printing
Please be aware of the number of printouts remaining on your print quota. You can check to see how much money you have left by creating an account at FenwayCard.com. We recommend that you plan ahead and add money to cover the cost of printing for the rest of the semester. You can add money to your Fenway Card with a credit card at FenwayCard.com, or with cash at the Campus Card Office in E-007. For more information, please go to http://my.simmons.edu/printing.
Protecting your work
Make sure to back up your important documents by saving them in more than one place. Don’t save files on the “desktop” of any computer in a general access facility (e.g. the Library Information Commons or in one of the Residence Campus labs). On restart all changes (including saving of files) made to these computers are erased.
Instead save to:
your personal folder on the file server (remember you can access these files anywhere, anytime from a computer with an Internet connection at http://remote.simmons.edu), or
a USB flash storage device (a.k.a. USB key)
Need Help?
Need help? Please let us know if there is anything we can do to assist you. Staff are located at the Technology Desk on the 1st floor on the Library.
Good luck with classes and final projects!
