The Experience of Being ‘Other’ April 10, 2007 1-4 in the Paresky Conference Center
The Diversity Council (TDC) of Simmons College is pleased to present a unique program, The Experience of Being ‘Other.’
Future Stages, an innovative, local consulting company that uses interactive theater to expand diversity awareness, will deliver a program designed exclusively for the Simmons community.
Audience members will see depictions of cross-cultural situations that are likely similar to ones they’ve witnessed or experienced in real life, and perhaps felt unable to understand or respond to adequately. After the performance, the audience will have an opportunity to meet in small groups to discuss issues raised in the performance and draw on their own experiences.
This is an exciting opportunity for all members of the Simmons community to collectively explore the perspectives of those who differ from ourselves, while sharing many of our own values, viewpoints, challenges, and hopes.
This college-wide event for students, faculty, and staff will provide members of the Simmons community with tools and strategies to make Simmons an even more inclusive and welcoming community.
Join us on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 10 from 1:00 – 4:00 for a stimulating program that will benefit all of us!
Dessert and beverages including Kosher for Passover desserts and beverages will be served.
If you are able to join us, please rsvp to diversity@simmons.edu. We know you are busy, but for room set-up and refreshments it would really help us to have a sense of expected participants as soon as possible.
For anyone unable to attend, due to the Passover holiday or other conflicts, Future Stages has agreed to allow us tape the event. This will be available on reserve in the Library for viewing.
