In higher education and other professions, much of the writing is collaborative (for example, proposals, articles, and presentations). This means that, in addition to learning how to author individual essays, students also need to learn how to author collaborative documents. A “wiki” is an easy-to-use web page that can be edited by a group of people – a tool that is particularly effective in supporting writing across the curriculum. In fall 2006, Rich Gurney and Sue Stafford used wikis in their classes to support a wide range of writing assignments, including online lab notebooks, final lab reports, reaction papers, and essays that received peer feedback.
On March 14 (12:-1:30 in P113) you can hear Sue and Rich discuss their use of wikis and lessons learned.
Lunch provided, please call x2736 to register.
