We have determined that it is necessary to remove two trees along the driveway adjacent to the Boston Latin School property line. Just recently it became clear that this would be necessary to do immediately, though we have known that these trees were likely in the path of construction from the beginning of the project. We have protected them so far in the hope that they could remain in place until we were further into the SOM building construction or possibly until the project was completed.

The realities of construction on such a tight site have led us to the conclusion that in order to continue the project and ensure everyone’s safety along the driveway we need to proceed with widening the Palace Road exit driveway very soon.

This Monday, April 16th the two trees will be removed. We have chosen this day because the college is closed and the general contractor will not be working because of the Patriot’s Day holiday. Again, because of the limitations of working with limited space we need to do this at a time with minimal or no traffic on the driveway. Driveway traffic will be temporarily stopped throughout Monday for 10 – 20 minutes at a time.

The good news is that we have begun working with the Quad Advisory Committee to plan for the quad and to assure a greener future.

We appreciate your understanding as the SOM and Quad project moves forward. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Dominic Bisignano at dominic.bisignano@simmons.edu

Thank you.
