About the Faculty Showcase: This year’s Showcase is an opportunity to learn about the role technology is playing in teaching, learning, and research across the College. A series of posters will be on display to highlight innovative work being done by over fifteen Simmons College faculty members.
This Week: Elizabeth Scott, Karabeth Vanick
DEPARTMENT: Simmons Center for Hygiene and Health
POSTER TITLE: A survey of hand hygiene practices on the Simmons campus using Zoomerang.
Upper respiratory tract infections and gastrointestinal tract infections are the cause of a significant level of illness on college campuses. However, preventative measures such as hand washing and hand sanitation are often not well supported or practiced on campus. We wondered how technology could help us address this pressing need for improved hygiene. The result was a confidential, self-administered cross-sectional on-line survey that we developed and administered campus-wide in April 2006.
