Boston, Mass. – Junior shortstop Ann Talarico was named to the Great Northeast Athletic All-Conference softball first team as determined in a vote by the league’s head coaches and announced by the conference office on Wednesday evening. Senior outfielder Meg Conlin and junior third baseman Natalie West were second-team selections.

Talarico, who earned second-team honors last season, ranked third on the squad with a .336 batting average and led the Sharks in runs batted in (31), extra-base hits (19), on-base percentage (.444) and slugging percentage (.673). Talarico ranked second among league leaders with 37 runs scored, was tied for fourth with eight home runs and finished fifth with 76 total bases.

Conlin, who was named to the all-conference squad for the second straight season, started all 36 games in center field for the Sharks. She led the league with 64 outfield putouts and contributed five outfield assists. Conlin batted .303 and ranked second on the team with 30 runs scored.

West led Simmons with a .347 average and was second with 30 RBI. She also scored 24 runs and collected 12 extra-base hits. West, a transfer from Suffolk University, received all-conference accolades for the third consecutive season. She was a first-team choice in 2004 and second team choice last season.

The Sharks won 16 of their final 25 games to conclude their season 19-17. They finished fifth in the conference standings and placed fourth at the GNAC tournament after defeating eighth-seeded Suffolk and third-seeded Pine Manor.
