Attention All New and Existing Student Organizations:
Welcome back to Simmons College! I look forward to working with you and your organizations this year as this year’s new Student Affairs Officer.
In regards to activation:
In order to request funds and be recognized as a student organization on campus you must have a constitution on file. A constitution is required if you are a newly formed student organization or if the existing organization’s constitution was updated since the last activation process. You must also fill out the Organizational Record Form, the Simmons College Hazing Policy Form, and the Public Performance of Videos and DVDs Form. It is the responsibility of every organization’s president to ensure that the Student Affairs Officer has received or has a constitution on file for that organization. In addition, every organization’s president and treasurer must have attended budget training. The president of every organization has also to attend event planning training as well. It is imperative that this is completed in order to be eligible to receive funding. Trainings will be conducted on a monthly basis throughout the remainder of the academic year. Furthermore, the SFB will only review operational and event budget requests from organizations that have been confirmed to be activated by the Student Affairs Officer. I have placed an activation packet in every existing organization’s mailbox. For new organizations I have placed extra forms outside the SGA office in W-008. Please return the completed packets and edited or new constitutions to the SGA mailbox. In order to become activated, completed activation packets are due by Friday, October 5th at 5:00 pm.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at Ghonim@Simmons.edu or the Student Government Association at SGA@Simmons.edu. You can also drop by the SGA office in W-008 during my office hours on Wednesdays from 1:30-3:30.
Sincerely,
Aliaa Ghonim
Student Affairs Officer
