H.E.R. (Hermanas Exchanging Roots) meeting Saturday, October 20 in the Kotzen Room, 11:00am-2:00pm.
H.E.R. is for girls and young women (ages 14 to 21) of African descent, including Afro-Latinas, African Americans, Latinas, and Afro-Caribbeans.
The purpose of the project is to unite women, address our identities and lives, and move towards positive change. This project will begin the process of bridging differences among young women of color that will lead to healing our communities.
Featuring:
- Activists and Community Organizers Rhoda Tuckett Johnson, Isabel Gonzalez, and Trina Jackson;
- Marinieve Alba, Cultural Activist and Educator;
- Justice Williams, The City Schools;
- A film by Sista II Sista-No More Violence Against Our Sisters;
- Performers Natural Bliss, and
- Kilombo Novo-Capoeria Angola.
Teachers, guidance counselors, youth, the community, and Simmons students, faculty, staff and alumnae are all encouraged to attend.
