Yudelevich and Macleod Receive Tennis Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year Awards

Boston, Mass. – Senior co-captain Alex Yudelevich was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tennis Player of the Year and voted All-Conference First Team and freshman Maile Macleod earned GNAC Tennis co-Rookie of the Year, as announced by the conference on Monday, Oct. 29.
Yudelevich, who competed in the number one singles spot for Simmons, compiled an 8-7 record, 6-1 in conference play. Yudelevich also posted a victory (4-6, 7-5, 7-5) in the GNAC Finals over first-ranked Suffolk University despite the team’s defeat.
Macleod was undefeated in conference action with eight victories and an overall singles record of 13-2. Macleod easily defeated Suffolk rival, 6-2, 6-1, in the conference finals.
Senior Kendra Currier was also named to the All-Conference First Team and sophomore Dominika Hudcova made All-Conference Second Team for the Sharks.
Currier posted a 9-6 overall record, making most appearances at second singles. Hudcova was an even 7-7 at third singles, but had an impressive 5-2 record in conference play.
Simmons Tennis ended their season Sunday evening after falling to first-ranked Suffolk University in the conference finals, 5-4. They ended the season with an overall record of 11-6, 7-2 GNAC.
