Want an ASB that connects you to Boston? Want to learn about and work for change with the local community? Apply for Boston Immersion 2008! (Applications due 12/3/07)

The Boston Immersion Alternative Spring Break (ASB) offers students from COF institutions an opportunity to spend their spring break staying in Boston to learn about, connect with, and take positive action in the community.

INFO SESSION THIS WEDS 11/28 from 4-5pm at MassArt (Center for Art and Community Partnerships-South Hall Room 107)

During Boston Immersion, daily volunteering is coupled with city explorations, panels, discussions, and meetings with city and community leaders and local organizations. All participants stay together in COF accommodations and will be in the program from Sunday 3/9 - Friday 3/14.

Last year’s program centered on “Youth Empowerment in Roxbury and Mission Hill.” COF students volunteered with one of two local youth enrichment programs. In addition to focusing on the positive potential and power of youth, students also learned about the history of Boston, Roxbury, and Mission Hill, the assets and challenges in these communities, college access and the importance of education for all, and how to work with the community to take action and move forward. The 2008 theme is currently being decided on by student leaders and may include socioeconomics, affordable housing, or urban education.
