Minimum Wage Rate Change In Massachusetts

Effective January 1, 2008, the minimum wage hourly rate, for work performed in the State of Massachusetts, will change from $7.50 to $8.00 an hour. Students, who currently have hourly rates less than $8.00, will automatically have their rates changed to $8.00 for work performed starting January 1st. New Referral forms will not have to be completed. However, supervisors should keep this rate change in mind when planning for budget expenses this spring.

Likewise, part-time hourly and voucher employees must receive a pay rate of at least $8.00 an hour beginning January 1st. Please keep this in mind when completing vouchers for the pay of these individuals.
