Sharks Capture fourth straight GNAC Swim title

BOSTON, Mass. — It was a banner day for the Simmons College swim team once again Saturday as the Sharks captured the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship for the fourth straight season.
The Sharks 198 points topped six other competitors, and was far and away the top squad, outdistancing second place Elms (113), and third place Wheelock (98).
Leading the way for Simmons was junior Keri-Ann Arsenault (Chester, N.H.) who won three events. She was tops in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:41.36. She also won the 200 IM in 2:24.09, which was a new GNAC meet record. She also was tops in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 19:50.46.
In the 100 freestyle, Brittany Torelli (Waterbury, Conn.) turned in a first place finish with a time of 58.52, which was a new GNAC meet record.
Sophomore Caitlin Urciuoli (Wethersfield, Conn.) turned in a top performance in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.28.
“It’s a great feeling winning the GNAC for a fourth consecutive year,” said head coach Doug Backlund. “The team came together and did a wonderful job.”
