“Choosing to Participate” is a multifaceted educational and civic initiative that challenges us to think deeply about what democracy means and what it asks of each of us. An initiative of Facing History and Ourselves, Choosing to Participate has won nationwide praise for encouraging people of all ages to consider the consequences of their everyday choices and for inspiring them to make a difference in their own schools and communities. The Boston Public Library is hosting a unique and interesting exhibit from January 20th to May 20, 2008. The exhibit is called Choosing to Participate: Facing History and Ourselves. It’€™s a multi-media exhibit that examines four individuals in different communities, whose stories illustrate courage, initiative and passion that are needed to help protect democracy and human rights. This exhibit is free and guided tours for walk-ins are available from 11-2 on weekdays.

Sujata Adamson-Mohan and Ethan Kennedy are organizing tours, if you are interested please contact them at volunteer@simmons.edu.
