Sociedad Latina’s mission is to enhance the overall well being of the Latino and surrounding community by delivering programs that encourage community leadership through educational attainment, cultural identity and continuation of traditions.
In collaboration with Sociedad Latina’s Mission Possible Program and their Education Coordinator, Simmons is offering a college access mentoring partnership. We are looking for volunteers to serve as mentors in an afterschool college readiness program for high school students. You will be paired with Sociedad Latina youth to help them research various college opportunities, support them in preparing for and applying to college, and act as a mentor for achieving college success. Mentors will also plan activities and address questions about academic and campus life.
Mentors meet with students one evening a week from 6-8 pm on Monday nights in the Main College Building. Applications are DUE THIS MONDAY 2/4, and training will be held from 5-7pm Monday 2/4. For an application or more information, email Grace McDonald, Student Leader, at sociedadlatina@simmons.edu.
