About the Faculty Showcase: This year’s Showcase is an opportunity to learn about the role technology is playing in teaching, learning, and research across the College. A series of posters will be on display to highlight innovative work being done by over fifteen Simmons College faculty members.

This Week: Ellen Grabiner & Sarah Burrows
DEPARTMENT: Communications
POSTER TITLE: Basecamp for Project Management in Studio Five

Studio Five is the capstone course for the four major tracks in the Communications Department: Writing, Public Relations/Marketing Communications, Graphic Design, and Integrated Media. Structured as a project-based learning experience, Studio Five gives students an opportunity to learn how to work within a team for non-profit clients. Students are responsible for project development and management, including conducting face-to-face meetings with clients, working with vendors, and creating timelines and budgets—all ultimately leading up to producing finished work for their clients. Projects may range from work on a website, creation of a brochure, or production of a radio or video spot to setting up photo shoots, producing events, or even undertaking an entire branding campaign.
