The Office of the Dean for Student Life and the Student Government Association are currently accepting nominations for Student Leadership awards, to be presented at the Student Leadership Recognition Ceremony on Friday, April 18, 2007.
Please take a moment to review the following awards and nominate a student you feel best embodies the spirit of each.
Please email nominations and a short paragraph describing the basis for each nomination to joanna.conroy@simmons.edu by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2007.
Presidential Leadership Award
This special achievement award, given by President Scrimshaw, is given to a senior who has made a significant contribution to the College through her noteworthy leadership and service during her time at Simmons.
Multicultural Community Award
This award is designed to celebrate the contribution of a student who, by involvement, attitude, and action has enhanced the development of a multicultural community at Simmons. All undergraduates are eligible for consideration.
Carol Waller Pope Leadership Award This award, established following the 2005 Black Alumnae/i Symposium, is a financial prize honoring Symposium Chair Carol Waller Pope â74. Nominees should demonstrate exceptional leadership through their involvement in diverse campus organizations. Leadership need not be exemplified through an officer or chair position, but may also be demonstrated through unique and exceptional contributions to community life at Simmons. The award recipient is a student of color who consistently exhibits cooperation, team spirit, and professionalism; shares a generous and unselfish attitude; displays resourcefulness to meet the needs of others; and enables individuals and groups to flourish.
