On Friday March 21 in the LKP center from 7 to 9pm the Alliance and ASA present, the Good Asian Drivers Tour.

Following the preformance there will be a Q and A by Kit and Melissa as well as an Open Mic for anyone who is interested in preforming.

Kit Yan and Melissa Li are co-headlining the Good Asian Drivers Tour, a cross-country expedition filled with gender-defying, dorkalicious, gaysian-american spoken word, and music. Together, they’ll take the U.S. of A by storm and discover the country while rocking out.

Kit Yan is a transgendered Hawaii boi who has won the world’s largest slam, competed in the Individual World Poetry Slam, landed a spot in the Lizard Lounge national slam team, and featured with nationally-recognized poets like Jason Carney, Iyeoka Okoawo, Reggie Gibson, and Michael Brown. All before the age of 21.

Melissa Li is a lesbian filmmaker and singer-songwriter who has been performing in the Boston area for over 8 years. Her music is a mixture of folk rock and pop, with a hint of soul and a whole lot of queer, and heavily influenced by Ani DiFranco, Jonatha Brooke, Kris Delmhorst, Deb Talan, Melissa Ferrick, and a slew of other pop/rock/folk divas. Most recently, she has won the coveted Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation award for her first musical “Surviving the Nian”, produced by The Theater Offensive in Boston last spring.
