Faculty and Staff-

This year marks the 24th anniversary of Simmons College’s Silent Auction. The auction will be held on April 30 – May 1, 2008 in the Faculty/Staff Dining Room. Since 1984, a group of dedicated staff members volunteer on an auction committee that plans the fundraiser in an effort to give back to the community in which they work. The group spends months preparing for the two-day event, soliciting donations both from local businesses and fellow staff members.

In the last 20 years Staff Council has raised more than $80,000 through the generosity of bidders and donors. The money raised is used to support the ABCD Parker Hill/Fenway Food Project, which runs an emergency food pantry providing immediate food supplies for low income households in the area. This kindness has helped provide food for the nearly 5,000 households the pantry serves each year.

Faculty and Staff can help by donating new or like-new items to be auctioned off during the two-day event. Examples of popular donation items are books, jewelry, gift certificates, home-made items, services and other unique finds. Donations can be given to Melissa Kelly in the Office of the Dean. Official donation forms will be distributed to mailboxes in early April.
