Youth Empowerment Conference

You are cordially invited to attend the “Empowering the Youth” Conference presented by Girls Preparing to Succeed (GPS) a Simmons’ student founded and administered group, which aims to provide urban high school women with the tools they need to succeed.

The conference will be held on Wednesday, April 16th 6:00-7:30pm, in the Kotzen Room at Simmons College, followed by a short reception.

The conference will feature Simmons-affiliated programming and leaders from the Simmons community discussing programming that works toward empowering the next generation: o The President of Simmons College, Dr. Susan Scrimshaw

o GPS Founder/Director, Julia Reynolds; GPS Program Directors, Rachel Nelson and Rosendry Gonzalez; GPS mentors Ashley Green and Maria Zaman; and GPS high school participants

o Dr. Connie Chow, Director of Science Club for Girls

o State Representative Alice K. Wolf, Simmons Alumna and Founder of Cambridge Kids Council

o Dr. Stephen London, Simmons Professor of Sociology and Director of the Scott/Ross Center
