Driveway Repaving (May 19 through Mid-July)

Please be advised that on Monday, May 19th work will begin on repaving the main driveway. The driveway will remain unpaved for several weeks while this work is being done. Final paving is scheduled for mid-July. This work will also mean that there will be intermittent changes in access to the garage during the construction work hours of 7:00am to 3:00pm. We are currently developing a detailed, day by day schedule aimed at minimizing inconvenience and delays associated with this work.
Project Impacts on the Community
There will be approximately 10-15 days when it will be necessary to close the driveway from Avenue Louis Pasteur to the garage ramp. On these days between 7:00am and 3:00pm all cars will have to access the garage from the Palace Road end of the driveway. Detailed directions will be sent out prior to these closings. There will also be days when the driveway will be closed between the garage ramp and Palace Road. On these days there will be no exiting to Palace Road between 7:00am and 3:00pm.
We will also have to reduce the garage entrance/exit ramp to one lane for several days as we complete work at the top and along the ramp. During these times Public Safety details will be in place to direct traffic.
A detailed schedule will be sent out through campus announcements. We will also post reminder notices around campus to make sure everyone has up to date information regarding all changes in access to and from the garage and along the driveway.
Starting at 11:00pm Friday, June 27th through 6:00am Monday, July 7th the garage will be closed to allow work on the ramp and within the garage that can only be done while the garage is closed.
Alternative parking will be available for all Simmons College permit holders. However, there will be no guest parking available during that week. Further details about alternate parking will be sent out prior to the garage closing.
In addition, we are currently reviewing the feasibility of closing the garage earlier than the regular 11:00pm closing for approximately 5 nights during mid-June. More details to follow on this.
Except during the garage closing dates described above limits to driveway access will be only during the construction workday from 7:00am to 3:00pm. At all other times there will be access to both Avenue Louis Pasteur and Palace Road from the driveway.
