Nominations for Dean’s Awards for Exceptional Teaching and Advising Now Being Accepted!

The Office of the Dean invites students, staff, and faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences to submit nominations for the Dean’s Award for Exceptional Teaching and the Dean’s Award for Exceptional Undergraduate Advising. These awards are presented annually at the fall Honors Convocation.

Eligibility: You may nominate any full time or proportional member of the undergraduate faculty or CAS graduate faculty. If you’re not sure whether your candidate is eligible, contact Melissa Kelly in the Office of the Dean at melissa.kelly@simmons.edu or 617.521.2067.

Process: To nominate a faculty member for either award, please submit the following information:

-Name of award (Dean’s Award for Exceptional Teaching or Dean’s Award for Exceptional Undergraduate Advising)

-Name and academic department of nominee

-Your name

-Your status (undergraduate student, graduate student, staff member, faculty member)

-Narrative statement in support of the candidate (not to exceed 500 words)

Optional: You may include supporting materials in addition to your statement. Examples might include letters of support from others familiar with the faculty member’s abilities, exemplary syllabi, summary sheets of student evaluation data, model assignments, etc.

Deadline: Nominations will be accepted up to May 23, 2008. Please submit your nomination and any supporting materials to Melissa Kelly via regular mail or email.
