Project Moveout, the Sustainability Committee’s year-end recycling program, is in need of volunteers.

At the end of the spring semester, a tremendous amount of waste is generated on the residence campus by students who are moving out and have more stuff than they can take with them. A lot of perfectly good items end up in the dumpster as a result.

Project Moveout seeks to change that! We collect these unwanted goods and donate them to charity, thereby reducing the amount of trash that we produce and helping those in need.

This is huge project, and it takes a lot of volunteer power! From the 5th-19th of May, we are seeking volunteers who would be willing to spend a few minutes every day checking the Project Moveout collection locations, which will be in the 1st floor lounges of the residence halls. The goal will be to keep them organized and make sure they’re not becoming a nuisance.

We also need people who will be willing to move items from the residence halls to Bartol the weekend of the 10th-12th, and then again on the 19th and 20th. Depending on the number of volunteers we have, this will be a 2-4 hour commitment.

Please consider donating your time to this worthy cause! If you have ANY time to spare, we’d love to hear from you. Please contact laura.smith3@simmons.edu for more information, or to sign up.
