About the Faculty Showcase: This year’s Showcase is an opportunity to learn about the role technology is playing in teaching, learning, and research across the College. A series of posters will be on display to highlight innovative work being done by over fifteen Simmons College faculty members.

This Week: Edward T. Vieira, Jr.
DEPARTMENT: Communication
POSTER TITLE: E-learning in the Master of Science in Communications Management Program

MCM 497 is an online graduate course designed for the busy, professional, Communication Management student who needs a flexible alternative to the traditional classroom setting. The course exposes students, as practitioners, to applied theories of motivation and persuasion, which enables them to effectively design programs and frame communications in light of human psychology, human behavior, and organizational dynamics. In creating this course, my underlying concern was to build a virtual learning community with personality. The online format also challenged me to be detailed and integrate my content, as I realized that missing one detail could be problematic for my students within any given learning experience.

On April 23rd, from 3:00-5:00 in the Kotzen room, Simmons faculty and staff are invited to attend a Faculty Showcase and reception. As part of the lead-up to the Faculty Showcase we are spending some time each week to spotlight the innovative work that will be shown at this year’s Showcase.
