Gift to Susan Scrimshaw

You may contribute to a farewell gift to President Scrimshaw. On behalf of the Simmons College community, the Simmons College Faculty Senate and the Black Administrators Faculty and Staff Council (BAFAS) presented President Scrimshaw with a farewell gift by establishing The Susan C. Scrimshaw Fund through the Family Violence Prevention Fund.

This donation will help support travel for women from underdeveloped nations to attend the 2009 FVPF Conference on Domestic Violence and International Women’s Health in New Orleans. A special meeting of international women attending the conference will be convened in Susan’s name; President Scrimshaw has been invited to address this session.

The Family Violence Prevention Fund was founded by Esta Soler, a graduate of Simmons College class of 1968 and recipient of an honorary doctorate from Simmons College in 2006. FVPF is one of the world’s leading violence prevention agencies, with offices in San Francisco, Boston and Washington, D.C., and partners around the world. FVPF develops Simmons and FVPF have a long and continuing collaboration on projects to end violence against women locally, nationally and internationally. This fund in President Scrimshaw’s name recognizes Susan C. Scrimshaw as an internationally renowned scholar who has devoted her career to bettering the health and lives of women around the globe.
