By now, you’ve heard from Kimberly Wilder with the good news of your advising appointments.
If you have not heard from Kimberly, it’s because you have not been assigned any advisees for the “Summer Preview Days.” If you believe you have been assigned advisees but you have not heard, please call Josephine Shaddock at x2472. The Dean’s Office has also kept a list of adviser assignments (x2091).
I want to thank you for participating in this important event that welcomes our incoming class to Simmons and introduces them to advising, one of the academic endeavors we consider a crucial element of our teaching at Simmons.
In case you haven’t already tried it, here’s how you get to your advisees files: On G: locate the folder names “Advising.” Within the “Advising” folder is sub-folder labeled “Departments.” Go to “Departments” and locate your name. Your student’s information will be in that sub-folder.
If you have difficulty getting to that folder, you’ll find assistance for accessing the G-drive from a Simmons computer or remotely and direct them to the following website: http://my.simmons.edu/services/technology/helpdesk/fileserver.shtml
We will hold a brief adviser training session at 2 pm (one on Thursday, another on Monday) in L008 (this is a room change). Please join me in thanking Kimberly Wilder and Josephine Shaddock for all they’ve done to bring advising this far — Brava!
On Thursday (and/or Monday), please be sure also to thank Susan Chudd and the orientation staff for their support and work in executing this program. Susan extends her invitation to you to join the students and orientation leaders for lunch at 12:00 in the Paresky Center on Thursday and/or Monday.
