America's Test Kitchen was established by Chris Kimball, who founded and still edits the monthly magazine COOKS ILLUSTRATED. COOKS ILLUSTRATED and America's Test Kitchen are two sides of the same ultimate recipe enterprise. America's Test Kitchen is the kitchen where the content is derived for the magazine and other publications of Boston Common Press (the in-house publishing company). America's Test Kitchen is also a television series on the Public Broadcasting System.

The Test Kitchen is dedicated to finding the best methods for preparing favorite home dishes. Every week the cooks purchase culinary material and test hundreds of recipes to find out which techniques work and which ones don't. The cooks repeatedly test recipes, gadgets, pantry staples, cooking techniques, and cookware. COOK'S takes no advertising, so if it's not worth buying, they'll tell you. If a cooking technique doesn't work, they'll tell you why.
