Dear Students,

Last year Simmons, UNC-Chapel Hill, Catholic University, and the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) received a grant from IMLS to support students with advanced degrees to pursue careers in academic librarianship. This is a three year grant, and we will be accepting the second group of students this fall. This group will begin the program in January 2006.

If you have just started GSLIS, this program may be for you! The program includes: a tuition waiver for three credit hours, a paid internship, an ARL leadership Institute in Washington (paid for by the grant), and mentoring.

You are eligible if you are no more than half way through the program, and if you have completed doctoral work in any field. (You can be ABD.)

To apply, please submit a one-page letter describing your interest in academic librarianship. Describe the strengths that you would bring to the Fellowship. Please submit your letter to Denise Davis (denise.davis@simmons.edu) by November 1, 2005.

Best wishes,

Michele Cloonan
