The Simmons GSLIS Research Colloquial Series Kicks off the Fall Semester with:
GSLIS Goes to Nicaragua
In August 2005, six GSLIS students and Assistant Dean Denise Davis flew to Nicaragua for two weeks to work in the first lending library in Nicaragua started just four years ago. The trip was organized, and carried out by GSLIS students Norah Connolly, Janet McEathron, Kristin Fowler, Senele Gonzalez, Mimi Kolosseus, and Carolyn Ziering. While there, they taught book repair and cataloging to librarians from all over southern Nicaragua, traveled with the bookmobile to nearby villages, volunteered at the library for the blind in Managua, and had an adventure they will never forget. Come see their pictures and and hear about their outreach experience.
