Possible Projects for SLTP Practicum Students

The following is a list of possible major and additional projects for practicum students. This is a partial list based on things I have seen in supervising past practicum students Please feel free to add your own ideas to the list or pose a question about a possible project on the LibraryTeach listerv.

Preparing a collection for automation
Developing a website for school library
A collaborative unit that contains a series of lessons co-taught with a classroom or subject area teacher
An author study that takes place over a series of weeks
A workshop for teachers: using online databases, how to evaluate web sites, academic integrity …
Planning and implementing a reading incentive program
Planning and hosting an evening parent-child book discussion event
Creating, introducing, and tallying an online survey about library
services for use in creating long-range plan
Conducting a major evaluation of a particular area of the collection, making recommendations in writing for weeding and creating annotated list of recommended purchases
Writing a grant
Organizing and running a book fair
Putting together a PowerPoint presentation about the library that ran on a loop at Parents Night
An action research project
