Reason 5: They are close to Tailgate ice cream at the Village Commons.

Not to mention they will help you get a jump start on your classes. In the first sessions, you will get an introduction to the most basic electronic resources, the ones you will be using most frequently throughout your time at GSLIS West.

OPAC & BEYOND: An introduction to the new, improved, GSLIS Collection website and the Simmons OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) which will be important to you even though your classes are at Mount Holyoke. You will also learn search strategies that you will use in most of the OPACs you encounter.

WHO IS LISA, ANYWAY? LISA and her good friends ISTA and Library Literature are the three major Library & Information Science databases. Before we dive into the alphabet soup, we will take a non-technical look at what a database is. We will meet LISA up close and personal and use her as a touchstone for examining ISTA and Library Literature.
