Children’s Book Drive
November 14 - 23, 2005

The Scott/Ross Center, the Center for the Study of Children’s Literature, and the Graduate School of Library and Information Science are sponsoring a book drive. Recipients will be two Fenway neighborhood libraries and libraries affected by the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast:

o Farragut School - an elementary Boston Public School
o Children’s Hospital - “Booking It” Program
o BookRelief - hurricane relief organization distributing millions of books to schools impacted by the recent hurricanes.

Types of Books Needed
o The Farragut School Library is looking for new or gently used nonfiction books (e.g., animals, science, sports, biography, etc.) published in the last 5 years in English and Spanish for ages 5-11.
o The Children’s Hospital “Booking It” Program is looking for new or gently used fiction and nonfiction books in English and Spanish for ages 12-18.
o BookRelief is looking for new books for ages preschool to 18.

Times and Locations for Book Donations
o MCB Fens Lobby
o Tuesday, November 15: 10 am – 3 pm
o Wednesday, November 16: 10 am – 3 pm

o One Palace Road Lobby
o Tuesday, November 15: 12pm – 3 pm and 5 pm – 6 pm

o Drop-box Locations - any time during November 14-23:
o GSLIS Lounge (One Palace Road, 2nd floor)
o Beatley Library (first floor, near the Access Services Desk)
o Scott/Ross Center (MCB W-102)
o MCB Fens Lobby
o Children’s Literature Suite (MCB C-301)
o Bartol Hall
o Simmons Hall
o Quadside

Monetary Donations
Cash or check donations will help the Farragut School purchase books on the library’s “wish list.” If writing a check, please make it payable to Farragut School, and bring it to the MCB Fens Lobby or the One Palace Road Lobby on November 15 or November 16, or mail it/deliver it to the Scott/Ross Center, 300 The Fenway, Boston, MA 02115-5989, attention: Carolyn Grimes.
