Out from Behind the Desk: Helping Librarians Develop Their Public Voice (postponed from April 22)
One of the MOST important skills needed for a career in the information profession is the ability to interact and COMMUNICATE successfully with people. And to feel comfortable doing it…or at least give the appearance of feeling comfortable. As information professionals, we genuinely want to share our knowledge and abilities with people (the public) - patrons, colleagues, students, board members, vendors, and we will be expected to provide bibliographic instruction, attend meetings, collaborate on projects with teams, report on budgets, make public introductions Come learn how to speak effectively…and comfortably.
Saturday, April 29 at Simmons Campus (9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.):

John has 30 years experience in the high-tech industry and will share his expertise on dealing with the complexities involved with IT, legacy repositories, electronic media, long-term migration and retention of digitally created materials (which is almost everything used in business today…think: word processed documents, emails, spreadsheets, pdf, presentations, etc.).
