Updates to GSLIS Boston Campus Fall '06 Schedule

Dear Boston campus students,

A couple of updates regarding Fall course offerings. The bad news first:

Unfortunately, LIS 476 (Library Architecture and Space Planning) will not be offered in the fall and is unlikely to be offered in the spring. For those of you who would like to take this course, please note that there is still room available in the section being offered at Mount Holyoke this summer. This is a perfect time to get to know some of your western campus counterparts! Dates and times offered are available at: http://my.simmons.edu/gslis/courses/schedules/06/mhc_06_su.shtml

Also, LIS 404 on Wednesday nights (Rossiter) has been cancelled.

The good news, however, is that we have a bunch of additions to the Fall schedule:

• LIS 422 (Literacy and Services to Underserved Populations) will be offered on Mondays/Wednesday nights, 6 - 9 p.m. (Instructor: Shelley Quezada) PLEASE NOTE: This course will not be offered in the spring as is indicated on the Course Planning Chart.

• LIS 431 (Instructional Strategies for Effective Teaching and Learning in the School Library Media Center) will be offered on Thursday afternoons, 2:30 - 5:30 (Instructor: TBA)

• LIS 447 (Collection Maintenance; formerly Basic Materials Repair) will be offered on Wednesday nights, 6 - 9 p.m. (Instructor: TBA)

• LIS 470 (Visual Communication) will be offered on Tuesday mornings, 9:30 - 12:30 (Instructor: Gerry Benoit)

• LIS 478 (Information Entrepreneurship) will be offered on Wednesday nights, 6 - 9 p.m. (Instructor: Nancy Rossiter)

• LIS 488 (Technology for Information Professionals):
  Section cancelled: Tuesday mornings (Benoit)
  Section added: Thursday nights, 6 - 9 p.m. (Instructor: TBA)
  Section added: Friday afternoons, 1 - 4 p.m. (Instructor: Sheila Denn [new faculty])

• LIS 531E (Human-Computer Interaction) will be offered on Monday mornings, 9:30 - 12:30 (Instructor: Gerry Benoit)

• LIS 531J (Managing Spatial Information) will be offered on Monday afternoons, 2:30 - 5:30 (Instructor: Patrick McGlamery)

These changes are reflected on http://my.simmons.edu/gslis/courses/schedules/06/bos_06_fa.shtml and will be added to SOAR over the next few days.

Though I am still hoping to add a few more classes for fall (including a morning section of 404) the schedule is very close to being set. If you have a question about a particular course, please do not hesitate to contact me at jennifer.doyle@simmons.edu.
