“Humanitarian Aid for the Mind: One Librarian’s Journey”
A lecture by Shelley Quezada, Consultant for Library Services for the Underserved, Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and Adjunct Professor, GSLIS
Tuesday, October 24, 2006, 1-2PM
Room P207, Palace Road Building, Simmons College
Light refreshments will be provided.
This past summer, Shelley Quezada traveled to Sierra Leon and Indonesia on behalf of the Sabre Foundation, which operates book donation programs in 80 countries. Her role was to evaluate the impact of the program on end users in those countries and produce a final report for the U.S. State Department. Shelley’s talk will focus on the state of libraries in both countries and some observations about the use of donation programs as collection development vehicles for libraries.
