MHC: Part-time Student Assistant

The Mount Holyoke College Library is the site of this position and the primary supervisor will be a Mount Holyoke College Librarian.
Anticipated start date: January 2007.
Responsibilities:
- Provide service at the Mount Holyoke College Reference Desk.
- Assist with general web site maintenance/development.
- Assist with collection development activities.
- Assist with library instruction.
- Maintain Reference Desk statistics.
- Assist with curricular software/instructional technology projects.
- Other duties or projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Enrollment in the GSLIS program.
Attendance at the GSLIS at MHC program.
Completion of the Reference/Information Services (LIS 407) class.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including strong
customer service orientation.
Good computer technology and Internet skills.
Ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment.
Recommended Qualifications:
Familiarity with reference sources (print and electronic) and an
interest in teaching.
Familiarity with web publication tools such as Dreamweaver.
Familiarity with Excel.
Approximately 10 hours/week with possibility of up to 15; $10.50/hour.
Days and times needed:
Hours may be somewhat flexible but must be scheduled in at least 2 hour blocks and generally will be within the Mon-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm workday. Some evening and Sunday shifts may be possible during the academic year.
End period: Approx. May 2007, but possibly renewable for the Summer semester.
