Job opportunity at Beatley Library, Simmons College
Library Assistant Cataloging/Interlibrary Loan

Participates in the daily activities of the Cataloging & Interlibrary Loan Departments. This position catalogs monograph and non print materials for the Beatley Library, using the Innovative Interfaces Millennium Cataloging module, OCLC, ClassWeb and Catalogers Desktop. The position fills ILL lending and borrowing requests using the OCLC Resource Sharing and the ILLiad interfaces. Supervises the ILL & Cataloging Department student workers and works on special projects as assigned. The Technical Services Library Assistant will also work one weekly 2 hour shift on the Reference Desk, and participate in professional development activities. This position is equally divided between the Cataloging and ILL departments.

This is a full time pre-professional position. Bachelor’s degree required. Current enrollment in the Simmons GSLIS program with 3 or fewer classes completed strongly preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, e-mail and current technology required. Proficiency with III Millenium and OCLC preferred. Strong customer service orientation required, as well as solid communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.

Salary: $30,500 with tuition waiver & generous benefits pack
