Academic Library Internships – Fall 2007

The GCC Library is offering two internships this semester:

Responsibilities The interns will work in Public Services in a small community college library. Specific duties may include:

  • Staffing the Reference Desk
  • Teaching and/or assisting information literacy instruction sessions
  • Creating/editing research guides
  • Compiling reference and instruction statistics
  • Updating/maintaining information on the GCC Library website
  • Covering the Circulation Desk when other staff is unavailable
  • Participating in collection development

Dates and Hours of Internships
Approximately 15-20 hours per week from September through December 2007.

Salary
These are paid internships, earning $16.50 per hour.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a graduate program in library and information science
  • Successful completion of at least one Reference course Preferred:
  • Prior work or volunteer experience in a library
  • Prior teaching experience
  • Experience creating/editing websites using HTML or Dreamweaver
