Visual Resources Internship @ Wellesley

Wellesley College has an internship position in Visual Resources available for the Fall 2007 semester. This internship can be completed for credit if desired. The VR intern will work an average of 12 hours per week for 12 weeks, and duties will include: image cataloging, processing digital images (including color correcting and archiving), and some work with our analog collections (35 mm slides, lantern slides, and study prints).

Interns will learn about the daily workings of an image library, the technological aspects of image management, and about the standards employed in Visual Resources (specifically VRA Core and Cataloging Cultural Objects). More specific research projects can be taken on as well, to be determined by the intern and the Visual Resources Curator.

Candidates should have completed Reference (LIS 407) and Information Organization (LIS 415). Completion of Art Documentation (LIS 446), Digital Information Services and Providers (LIS 454), or Database Management (LIS 458) would be helpful, but not required. A background in Art History or the visual arts is strongly preferred.
