North Salem, NY, Library Director, Ruth Keeler Memorial Library

Our small association library (www.keelerlibrary.org) seeks an energetic director with the vision and initiative to lead us in current library trends, and facilitate our evolving role as online resources and services change patrons’ needs. Our ideal candidate is an effective, flexible leader with the people skills to maintain and broaden our relations with the community, and to work in a cooperative, can-do spirit with a small professional staff and volunteer helpers. We seek someone with up-to-date library-science skills, Internet expertise, and the management experience to run a small library.

Responsibilities include: creating and managing the budget; publicizing and promoting the library’s programs; grant-writing; supervising buildings and grounds; directing reference services and updating collections, developing a dynamic web presence; maintaining relations with other libraries in area; contributing ideas for fund-raising; and working closely with the Board of Trustees.

QUALIFICATIONS: Degree in Library Science with proven ability to handle multiple tasks at once, commitment to excellent public service, 3 - 5 years library experience preferred.

SALARY: $60,000 plus depending on experience with benefits.
