A national intellectual property law firm seeks a Library Assistant for their Boston office to assist with coordinating the document delivery, book ordering and ILL functions of their centralized Library Services Department. The Library Assistant will be responsible for responding to requests, and the research, retrieval and delivery of references to library users in a timely manner. The library assistant will work alongside the Document Delivery Specialist and other library assistants to utilize various libraries and vendors to fill reference retrieval requests in an efficient and cost-effective manner. This position requires a high level of communication to ensure that library users and staff are kept up-to-date on the progress of each request. This communication will assist the Document Delivery Specialist in managing and analyzing the workflow, while establishing and maintaining effective relationships with other libraries to control costs and improve services to library users. This individual will also track and report billable time and expenses associated with the document delivery functions.
This is a full-time, temporary position; paid weekly on an hourly basis ($14-$16/hr); and based on a thirty-five hour work week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm ET. No additional benefits are available unless position becomes permanent.
Candidates must possess a strong service ethic, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to multitask while handling a high volume of work in a deadline driven atmosphere.
The Library Assistant should possess a bachelor’s degree, or relevant library/reference retrieval experience.
Experience with Microsoft Outlook, research using various online library catalogs, and OCLC is highly desirable.
