Systems Librarian, Donald B. Watt Library, School for International Training
General Description: The Systems Librarian for the School for International Training’s Donald B. Watt Library proactively and responsively plans, delivers and promotes online library services for the SIT academic community and, more generally, for World Learning’s staff and program participants around the world. As SIT offers programs in more than 50 countries around the world, the Systems Librarian is challenged to deliver client centered library services to a geographically distributed and diverse user community.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Participates in planning, delivery and maintenance of online library services worldwide.
- Supports library systems and software, including the Library’s server, and follows protocols for open communication with World Learning’s centralized Information Technology department.
- Works with appropriate individuals to implement systems enhancements and modifications.
- Takes responsibility as the lead administrator for the Library IMS (Endeavor’s Voyager) and is responsible for all aspects thereof, including development and maintenance of interfaces between Voyager and other systems, integration of locally developed and third party applications with Voyager, functional support for all Voyager modules and creation of custom SQL reports.
- Manages Library web site. Creates and administers dynamically driven web content, online forms and search and retrieval interfaces.
- Works closely with Library and IT staff to implement new technologies to improve services, and participates in evaluating, implementing and management of commercial online resources. Provides documentation as needed.

- Advises and participates in planning for Library budgets along with the Library Director and colleagues in the Information Technology department.
- Other duties as required.
Qualification Statements:
- ALA accredited MLS or equivalent systems experience in a library environment.
- In-depth understanding of technological trends and developments in academic environments and a strong commitment to keep up with new technologies.
- Experience using Windows operating systems, HTML, and associated Web tools.
- Experience with server administration in UNIX or Windows platforms.
- Experience with Voyager (or IMS equivalent) and OCLC related
- Technical experience managing library products and web sites.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and communicate effectively with customer support. Ability to follow through with multiple open
- Effective analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively with people and programs outside of the Library.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to interact effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse population of faculty, students, and staff.
Preferred:
- Experience with Oracle relational database management.
