Chemistry and Chemical Biology Library

The Chemistry and Chemical Biology Library is the information center of the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department at Harvard University. The Library has approximately 200 active serial titles and houses monographs of research literature in the fields of physical and theoretical chemistry, quantum chemistry, inorganic and bioinorganic, organic, and bioorganic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry and other related fields supporting the work of the department.

The Chemistry and Chemical Biology Library seeks a graduate student to work part-time starting immediately. The library assistant will report directly to the Librarian.

Duties include working on the digitization of the Woodward Lecture Series in the Chemical Sciences. This consists of copying VHS and mini DV tapes to DVD format with the equipment provided, tape cataloging, as well as, circulation and other duties as needed.

Requirements: A service-oriented nature and excellent communication skills; interest in learning a variety of library skills; familiarity with library online data environments, internet browsers, and willing to learn Harvard library information software. Attention to detail is important as well as the ability to function cooperatively in an evolving work situation.

Salary: Library Assistants start at $13.00/hour

Hours: The Chemistry and Chemical Biology Library is open from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM from Monday through Friday. Within this time frame, hours are negotiable, but should be approximately 15 hours per week.
