Library Technician (Part-time: 19 hours)

Applications are being accepted for the open position of Library Technician (Part-time) at the Rockland Memorial Library. The Rockland Memorial Library is a member of the Old Colony Library Network (OCLN), a cooperative of 28 member libraries including 26 public libraries and 2 academic libraries.

The library technician performs all aspects of the shared, automated circulation of library materials. This includes, but is not limited to assisting library users, understanding, applying, and explaining library and network policies, performing bibliographic database searching and the processing of library materials.

Qualified applicants must have a high school education and two years of work experience in a library, preferable in a public library; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. The Library Technician works under the supervision of the Circulation Chief.

Computer skills with moderate speed and excellent accuracy are necessary. The library technician has extensive contact with library users and will include interacting with children and teenagers. Excellent interpersonal skills are a must.

This is a union position: Grade 2: $14.25 per hour for a 19-hour week, which includes some evening and weekend hours. No benefits.
